Abstract
572,579. Dispensing safety-razor blades &c. HEIDE, H. C. (Gillette Safety Razor Co.). July 20, 1943, No. 11810. [Class 18] A magazine for dispensing thin, wafer-like articles such as safety-razor blades comprises a feed slide 8, 16, Figs. 1 and 3 towards which blades n are yieldingly urged by a spring 7 for edgewise engagement, the blades n being staggered so that the commencement of each blade-feeding movement the slide bears on one face of the blade next beneath the one being delivered. Stops 19 to the slide are provided. Projections 10, 11, 12 Fig. 5 on a base-plate 6 engage slots 5 Fig. 8 in the blades, cam-surfaces 20, 21, 22, 23 being provided so that the blade being fed flexes transversely. The plate 6 may be loaded with blades before insertion in the magazine and may be held in position by depressing a portion of its material to engage part of the magazine. Spring 7 is slipped into place after the insertion of the loaded baseplate 6. In another form shown in Fig. 12 the slide 8 embraces the sheath and lugs 17 to engage the blades. Spring 7 may be sufficiently strong to flex the blades beneath the one at the top about a transverse axis to facilitate engagement of the projections 16 or 17. A further form of feed slide 8 is shown in Fig. 14, two springs 7a being here substituted for the spring 7. The magazine may be of metal or plastic. Specification 572,582 is referred to.
