Abstract

571,611. Electric clocks. BRADBURY, F. Sept. 14, 1943, No. 15041. [Class 139] A starting mechanism for an electric clock motor having two rotors rotatable in opposite directions, such as described in Specification 567,006, comprises two pairs of spring-controlled arms 2, 3 and 5, 6, Figs. 1 and 2, mounted to pivot on a common axis, the arms 3 and 6 carrying studs 12 to co-operate with the rotors 10, 11, when the arms 2 and 5 are pressed together and to impart a spin to the rotors when the arms are released. The arms 2, 3 are secured to a shaft 1 and the arms 5, 6 are attached to a surrounding sleeve or tube 4. A coiled spring 7 on the tube 4 has its ends anchored in holes in the arms 3, 6. The whole assembly is carried in a bushing 8 secured to the train plate 9 and projections 13 pressed out of the plate act as stops for the arms 2, 5. In a modification, the assembly is mounted in a bushing secured to the back plate, the rear arms being arranged on the outside of the clock casing. In another modification, a bracket or clip is secured to the casing to act as a bearing for the assembled arms, the manipulative pair being arranged on top of the casing.
