Abstract
571,034. Casting-machines. MISFELDT, C. C. Sept. 2, 1943, No. 14350. [Class 83 (i)] [Also in Group V] Molten or plastic metal or other material is forced into a split die without atomization, the first material through the die being trapped in blind cavities connected with the articleforming cavity. When all the cavities have been filled, a considerably increased pressure is applied. Molten metal may be introduced at 14 and fed by. a plunger 5 through an electrically-heated chamber 6 into an electricallyheated die 20, 22, the gate having a constricted portion 35 so that the metal solidifying therein may serve as a test piece. A blind cavity 40 and two lateral cavities (not shown) are connected to the end and sides of the article cavity 30 so that the cast article 30<1>, Fig. 2, has waste pieces 40<1> and 38 attached thereto by a neck 43 and fins 38<1> and containing all the oxidized and cooled metal. The final increased pressure is applied by an inner plunger 9.
