Abstract
570,464. Making grids. BETTLES, J. W. E. Sept. 18, 1943, No. 15362. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group X] Relates to metal flooring, stair treads and the like of the kind comprising metal strips 1, 2, connected together at intervals, and consists in fixing the underside of each strip 2 to the faces of adjacent strips 1 by welding so that strips 1 are supported by ribs 5, Fig. 3, of metal formed or applied during the weld. The strips are connected to side members 6 by welding at 7a. A floor panel thus formed has welded to it slotted plates 7, each of which is adapted to receive a stud 8 which passes freely through a hole in an upper limb of a clip 10 and screws into the lower limb. The clip serves to clamp the panel upon a fixed angle iron 11. Fig. 5 (not shown) illustrates a stair tread composed of bars similar to the members 1, 2 and 6, the side bars being welded to outer side plates in a manner similar to the joint between the members 1 and 2.
