Abstract

570,230. Coballic hydroxide. MOND NICKEL CO., Ltd., WALLIS, A. E., and WEST, D. H. Nov. 28, 1941, No. 15368. [Class 1 (iii)] In the precipitation of cobaltic hydroxide from solutions which may also contain nickel by means of nickelic hydroxide the pH value of the reacting mixture is adjusted to 1.0 to 2.4 by the addition of acid, whereby a precipitated hydroxide relatively free from nickel is obtained. Reaction is preferably effected at 40-60‹ C. at pH 1.8 the acid being added after addition of the precipitant. Iron present in the cobalt solution is preferably removed before the precipitation step.
