[Class 98 (i)] A photo - electric exposure meter is mounted on the top of a reflex camera so that it may be moved either into a position in which it receives light from the object directly, or into a position in which it receives light from the viewed image of the object formed in the camera. Co-operating scales on the meter and camera may be provided to facilitate adjustment of the diaphragm of the camera lens in accordance with the indication of the meter. As shown, the meter 18 having on one side the photo-electric element 19 and on the other side the indicating pointer 20 is hinged at 17 to the top of the camera 11 so that it may be erected as shown to direct the element towards the object, or folded down to bring the element into close parallel relation with the ground glass screen 14 on which the viewed image of the object is formed by the lens 12 and mirror 16. The photoelectric element may consist of a series of small cells connected in parallel. The pointer 20, or a scale associated with it on the edge 23 of the meter, may co-operate with a scale for adjusting the diaphragm of the lens 12 ; this scale may be provided near the top front edge 15 of the camera, on top or front, and adjacent to a slot through which protrudes an index mark linked or geared to the diaphragm setting ring on the lens mount, or it may be provided on the camera front around said ring, its markings being extended upwards to the edge 15. The meter casing may be of square or circular section parallel to the element, and in the latter case the end of the pointer 20 may be turned down over the edge of the casing.
