Abstract

568,838. Switch cases. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., and MORGAN, R. W. Nov. 2, 1943, No. 18138. [Class 38 (v)] In order to enable the external operating knob or the like for the dolly of a tumbler switch to be centrally located in the lid of an enclosing waterproof metal casing, the switch is supported in the latter in an inclined position and operable by an arm extending radially from the spindle of the knob. The switch-fixing screws k enter tapped holes in opposed arms f of a cruciform plate, the other arms of which are secured by screws d to bosses c on the floor of the box a. The dolly-axis is thus inclined at about 45 degrees to the vertical central plane. A screw s clamps the radial arm o to the shaped end r<1> of the spindle of the knob m. Parallel depending wings on the arm o embrace the dolly, and an aperture in the flat part of the arm accommodates the dolly at the dead-centre position of the latter. Stops w<1> on the knob and lid define the extreme positions of the dolly. A helical spring t causes leather washers u to engage the lid in watertight manner at the spindle.
