568,704. Holding devices for magnetic testing. FELL, H. June 15, 1943, No. 9553. [Class 61 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A holder or supporting device, particularly applicable as a polepiece for passing magnetic flux through a body for the detection of surface cracks &c. with the aid of magnetic ink &c., or for holding the body whilst passing electric current therethrough by means of separate supply contacts and of the'kind wherein the contour of the holding surfaces can adapt itself to the contour of the work-piece &c. 18, comprises a container 10 and a number of thin contacting plates 12 enclosed by the walls of the container and supported'by liquid 11 or a compressible resilient medium such as sponge rubber, the vertical movement of the plates being limited by lateral projections 14 engaging slots 13 in the sides of the container.
