[Also in Groups XXIV, XXX and XXXV] An electrostatic work-holder consists of a semi-conducting block 13 faced with a resistive layer 15 and fed with direct-voltage. In the annular-form shown, the work is earthed by a central-pin 20 which also serves to switch on the current. In modifications, the work is not earthed but the holder consists of a series of adjacent semi-conducting blocks fed with current of opposite polarity (see Group XXXV).
