768,033. Work-holders. WARING, R. W. Aug. 13, 1954 [Aug. 20, 1953; Nov. 10, 1953], No. 23570/54. Class 83 (3). [Also in Groups XXIV, XXX and XXXV] An electrostatic work-holder consists of a semi-conducting block 13 faced with a resistive layer 15 and fed with direct-voltage. In the annular-form shown, the work is earthed by a central-pin 20 which also serves to switch on the current. In modifications, the work is not earthed but the holder consists of a series of adjacent semi-conducting blocks fed with current of opposite polarity (see Group XXXV).
