Abstract
568,465. Rudder frames and couplings. WOLSINGHAM STEEL CO., Ltd., and LIDDLE, T. Nov. 3, 1943, No. 18238. [Class 114] In a rudder frame comprising main rudder post j, top, intermediate and bottom rudder arms h<1> ... h<3>, and upper stock or head made in upper and lower portions a, b, the lower portion b of the upper rudder stock a is rigidly coupled to the top rudder arm h by bolting together plates f and g attached to these members. The plates are slotted to accommodate the top of the main stock at j<1> and the pintle at f. Attachment of the upper to the lower portion of the upper rudder stock is effected by shrinking and keying the latter to the former, and applying a split ring c held in place by a ring d, Fig. 5. Alternatively, a plain retaining ring is shrunk on to the lower end of the member a.
