Abstract

567,790. Safety razors. HEIDE, H. C. (Gillette Safety Razor Co.). Aug. 27, 1943, No. 14038. [Class 30] A safety razor blade has a resilient strip 15, Figs. 1 and 2, preferably of channel form, secured at its inner edge, e.g. by spot welding 16, adjacent the cutting edge 12 of the blade, the outer edge of the strip being free so that when the blade is clamped in a holder, the strip is compressed and, thus, when the clamping pressure is released, exerts spring pressure on the blade and on one of the clamping members to hold the blade firmly against the other clamping member. The strip may be extended inwardly beyond its attachment zone to form a resilient wing portion 14 lying normally in contact with the blade, and adapting the blade for use with a holder as in Fig. 7. The guard 20 of this holder has a central portion 23 with inclined grooves to receive the wings as the blade is inserted endwise into the holder. The ends 18 of the wings are bent downwardly to facilitate entry into the grooves. The strip 15 may be a plane obliquely disposed strip instead of a channel-shaped strip.
