[Class 81 (ii)] A tampon container and introducer or applicator comprises a substantially cylindrical body of crushable and disposable material adapted to receive a tampon, one end of the body retaining its substantially cylindrical form and serving as a holder and applicator for the tampon, the remaining portion of the body being scored longitudinally, or having a spaced longitudinal score line and a slot to facilitate inward folding of a part of the body into position to engage the inner end of a partially projected tampon and prevent its return movement into the applicator body for containing the tampon having means, e.g. the withdrawal cord, for projecting it from one end of the body and means on the body movable to a position to be engaged by the draw end of the tampon which is thus held in its projected position in the tampon during the application of the latter. As shown, the tubular body 2, Fig. 1, has an opening 4 through which the end 5 of the withdrawal cord 6 projects, and after the tampon 3 has been projected from the body by the cord 6, the body portion 8 below the edge 12 of the opening 4 is collapsed inwards, Fig. 3, along score lines 9, 10, 11 so that the edge 12 engages the inner end of the tampon. The upper edge 7 of the opening 4 is engaged by the cord 6 to limit the projection of the tampon. In another form, the cord projects through a slot in the body leading to a longitudinal slot and when the tampon has been projected, the portion of the body adjacent the slots is collapsed inwards along a longitudinal score.
