Abstract

566,114. Indicating apparatus. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and MOON, J. H. March 24, 1943, No. 4809. [Class 106 (iv)] The scales of an indicating instrument are illuminated by light from lamps L situated within the instrument casing and below the scales O, I, the light being reflected from surfaces R to a prism P and refracted by the prism on to the scales. The scales are opaque and, in the instrument shown, the outer scale O is rotatable. The prism P is carried on the outer scale O and the base of the prism is matted and painted black. Alternatively, a black adhesive may be used to secure the prism to the scale. The upper parts M of the casing are painted black and the space between the apex of the prism and the casing top is small, direct light from the lamps thus being prevented from passing to the eyes of an observer. The invention may be applied to straight scales, such as the scales of radio receivers.
