565,794. Condensers. BURGESS, A. F. (Zenith Radio Corporation). May 21, 1943, No. 8113. [Class 37] 'A variable condenser comprises two coacting parts, one or both being modified so as to produce owing to their relative movement, a rate of frequency change to be maintained relatively low and substantially uniform in two spaced parts of the frequency band covered, and to be made relatively high in that part of the frequency band between the spaced parts. In the examples, this is effected by suitably shaping the rotor plates, Fig. 2, or the stator plates, Fig. 5. In these cases a substantial change in capacity is effected by each movement of rotation when part A in the rotor, or A<1> in the stator, first becomes operative ; with sections B and B<1>, the change is low, sections C, C<1> the rate of change is high, D, D low and E, E<1> high. Modified rotor plates may be used with modified stator plates. The intention is to space out the timing in those parts of a short-wave band that are crowded.
