565,167. Attaching agricultural tools to tractors. DUBBELDAM, P. June 28, 1943, No. 10439. [Classes 6 (i) and 6 (iii)] A device for attaching agricultural tools p to a tractor comprises a frame a, d which is fitted to the tractor and which carries links j, k connected to the tool bar carrying frame m, the tools being raised when desired by springs 8, 9 which act through a system of toggle links under the control of a hand lever z. In the form shown, the frame members a are connected to the axle housing c of the tractor, while the members d are coupled to draw bars e. - The members a on either side of the tractor are interconnected by a transverse member w and the lower ends of the members d are similarly interconnected to form a rigid frame: Each member d has upper, and lower brackets for pairs of links j, k, the other ends of which are connected to side members of the frame m. These members carry clamps n for the tool bar o and to the latter is secured guides q for a vertically adjustable supporting wheel r<1>. A rod u extends between brackets on the member wand carries an arm x which is connected by a link y to lever z. At either end of rod u is an arm 4 carrying a link 5, the lower end of the link being connected to an arm 6 pivoted to member d. Link 5 and arm 6 between them embrace a link k and thus when they are raised a distance piece on their connecting pivot contacts the lower edge of the link k and thus raises the tool frame. When it is desired to lift the tools to the inoperative position shown, the lever z is suitably operated to move the rod u and the resulting movement of the arms 4, 6 enables their respective springs 8, 9 to complete their upward movement, carrying the tool frame with them. In the operative position the distance piece between the link 5 and arm 6 is clear of the link k and the tools, which may be for cultivating, ridging, hoeing or potato lifting, are thereby able to follow the movements of''the wheel r<1>. If desired, more than one tool' bar may be fitted between the members m. The Provisional Specification also describes a construction in which the levers of the lifting mechanism are connected by chains to the lower links connected to the tool frame.
