Abstract

Implements with adjustable tool frames; lifting tool frames manually; tools, mounting yieldingly.- In implements of the kind in which tines move or vibrato as a result of encountering varying resistances in the soil, the tines are connected in independent pairs in such a way that movement imparted to either tine of a pair in one direction will cause movement of the other tine in the opposite direction. The tines A, B, Fig. 1, are fastened to blocks A<1>, B<1> pivoted on the frame D which may be raised or lowered by means of a lever D<5> on the cranked axle D<4> of the rear wheels D<2>. An arm A<2> on each front block A' is connected by a rod or link C and adjustable spring C<2> to an arm B<2> on a rear block B<1>, the arm A<2> resting against an adjustable abutment C<1> on the rod C. In another form of machine, the tines are mounted in sleeve-like carriers movable on the cranked axle and on a cross-bar at the rear, the arms A<2>, B<2> being connected by a link, with or without a spring. A tine is mounted behind each rear wheel, the odd one being pivotally or rigidly connected to the rear eross-bar, or connected to a front tine in conjunction with the next rear tine, or merely connected to the next rear tine to move with it. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 5, the rear tine B is extended forward beyond its pivot and pivotally connected to the front tine A. In another arrangement, the tines A, Bare pivoted on the same shaft D<x>, Fig. 7, and linked at their forward ends to a centrally pivoted lever C. In another, the pivoted tines are connected to arms C<1>, Fig. 8, on a sleeve C angularly movable on a shaft D<x>. The connecting- rods A<2>, B<2>, Fig. 8, may be telescopic and provided with springs. According to the Provisional Specification, the tines may be connected in sets or series instead of pairs.
