Abstract
563,952. Inductances. HEYROLLE & CO., Ltd., A., BAYLES., J. W., and ROBERTSON, A. T. March 1, 1943, No. 3294. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] A variable impedance choke comprises windings B, C on polepieces A<SP>1</SP> on a rectangular core A and a pivotally mounted bridging member F, the operating spindle E of which is associated with clamping means whereby the bridging member may be clamped in adjusted position. Angular movement of the spindle is effected by a handle G having a pointer G<SP>2</SP> cooperating with a'scale, and clamping is effected by a handle J which operates a nut J to apply upward pressure to the spindle, thus bringing a conical surface E<SP>2</SP> on the lower end of the spindle into clamping relationship to a conical surface D<SP>2</SP> in the end of the spindle bearing D. An anchored washer K is interposed between the top of the nut J and the handle G to prevent the setting of the latter being disturbed by rotation of the nut J during clamping. The windings are divided into sections connected in series in pairs, the section nearest the pole tip on one side being paired with that furthest from the pole tip on the other side, and the pairs are connected in parallel.
