563,825. Self - locking nuts. DAUBIGNY, R. F., and MINCHIN, A. E. May 7, 1943, No. 7292. [Class 89 (i)] A self-locking nut formed in two parts, both of which are of insulating material, comprises an outer part of hexagonal shape and having a recess a<2> also of hexagonal shape separated by a groove d from a conical surface a<3> terminating in a counterbore f. The inner part is shaped exteriorly to correspond with the interior'of the outer part, except that at its smaller end it is provided with a flange e. It is also tapped for the bolt and provided with a slot A, B wider on the outer circumference so that the slot becomes completely closed or nearly so in the locked position of the nut. The depth of the counterbore f exceeds the thickness of the flange e by an amount sufficient to permit the locking action. Specification 502,477 is referred to.
