Abstract

563,813. Mixing &c. POINTON, J. E., and BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. Jan. 28, 1943, No. 1479. [Class 86] Relates to mixing, kneading, shredding, pulping or like machines, and consists in a bladed element adapted to rotate within a trough and having a plurality of blades arranged in pairs and shaped and adapted alternately to disperse and collect or condense the material being treated respectively towards the ends of the trough and towards the middle plane thereof. The element may comprise a pair of dispersing blades 11 having serrated edges of opposite inclination or helical shape from the middle plane. These blades displace the material towards the ends of the trough, the element being rotated clockwise as viewed from the right-hand end. The other pair of blades 13 are oppositely inclined and displace the material from the ends toward the medial plane. The serrated edges just clear the arcuate surfaces of the trough. The blades may be perforated for the passage of material.
