[Class 98 (i)] A film magazine for a camera comprises a cylindrical casing 8 carrying a guillotine cutter adjacent a film entrance slot, one member 28 of the cutter serving to close the slot and having a radial projection 35 which engages in a fixed guideway in the magazine-receiving chamber D of the camera when the magazine is inserted in an axial direction. When the magazine is subsequently locked in the chamber by a partial rotation, which causes locking means, such as tongues 39, carried by it to engage corresponding means, such as pins, in the chamber D, the projection 35 holds the closure and guillotine member 28 from rotating with the magazine, so that the film slot is uncovered. Conversely, rotation in the opposite direction to unlock the magazine causes the member 28 to close the film slot and, in co-operation with a fixed blade 33, to sever the film. The blade 33 is formed by one edge of a slot formed in a cover-plate 29 beneath which the member 28 is slidably mounted. A film core 16 is rotatably supported by the end walls of the magazine and is driven by a camera spindle 15 which passes through an aperture in the removable end wall 9 and engages within the core. The magazine is provided with the means described in Specification 563,307 for guiding and automatically connecting the leading end of the film to the core.
