Abstract

372,397. Photographic roll-film cameras. KODAK, Ltd. and CASE, C. Z., Kodak House, Kingsway, London. Feb. 7, 1931, No. 3899. [Class 98 (i).] A roll-film camera comprises a spool chamber and a film receiving chamber disposed on either side of the exposure chamber, the film being fed from the spool chamber across the exposure chamber to the receiving chamber solely by rotation of the spool. In the form shown the spool chamber comprises a cylindrical casing the edges of the casing 12, 13 overlapping to form a curved passage for the film. A spring-pressed roller 17 is mounted in the wall of the casing to bear on the film which is thus fed by rotation of the spool across the exposure plane 6 into the film receiving chamber 5 and subsequently wound back into the spool chamber, exposures being made en route. In another form a removable carton similar to the spool chamber above described may be used, the camera body being so shaped that the carton can only be inserted in one position in the spool chamber. In either case, instead of rewinding the film on to the spool after exposure, the film may be provided with an insensitive strip at the inner end and the receiving chamber made removable from the camera. The spool 118, Fig. 5, comprises a hub having a slot 119 for threading the film and a knurled head 125 mounted on the spindle for rotating the spool. The head bears a flange 124, fitting into an opening in the side of the spool chamber and may be held in place by a pin on the camera working in a groove on the head. One or more pins 122 may be mounted on the spool to assist in the feed of the film. The Provisional Specification also describes a camera of moulded material having a housing for the view-finder formed therein. The lens may be fitted in a focusing mount or the usual bellows provided.
