561,864. Securing lamp holders in sockets. ELECTRIC DEPOT Ltd., and LEWIS, E. A. Sept. 19, 1942, No. 13249. [Class 44] '[Also in Group XXXVI] A device for fixing a lamp-holder &c. in a socket comprises an expansible member attached to the holder &c. and biassed outwardly to engage the inner surface of socket, and means slid axially on the lamp-holder &c. by moving the latter in the socket serving to contract the member to release it from the socket. The expansible member 1 consists of a disc secured on the lamp-holder 2 by the screw-rings 3 and having outwardly curved arms 4 shaped at their ends to cause them to grip the inner surface of the socket 5-in which the holder is to be mounted. A ring 6 surrounds the arms 4 and in one position, Fig. 1, allows the arms to expand, but when it is forced past the resilient projections 8, by the action of a shoulder 7 when the holder is forced further down in the socket 5, it takes up the position shown in Fig. 2 and retracts the arms 4. According to the Provisional Specification the arms may engage behind a shoulder in the socket and may be released by a rotary movement of the holder.
