Abstract
561,565. Making girders &c. HERBERT, A. F. Nov. 20, 1942, No. 16463. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] A metal or part metal construction particularly applicable for supporting, or forming divisions in, shelving, comprises a pair of metal plates 1 which are slit at one or more places over part of their length as shown at 2 and bent up at the slits to form a socket to engage a metal or other rigid web 6 to form structures of I, Z or channel shape. The slits may be provided with transverse slits or apertures 3 at their ends. Fig. 5 shows tongues 7, 8 pressed or bent up so as to engage both sides of the web 6. Fig. 6 shows a channel shape structure, the end 10 of the plate 1 being bent up and a tongue 9 at the slit, the end 10 and tongue 9 engaging the web 6. The web 6 may be loose or may be clenched in the socket. Specification 561,564, [Group XIV], is referred to.
