560,984. Sampling gases for analysis. BAILEY METERS & CONTROLS, Ltd. Aug. 14, 1942, No. 11394. Convention date, Aug. 14, 1941. [Class 1 (i)] Apparatus for conducting gases from a sampling duct 1 to an analyzer 17 comprises a chamber 7 into which the gas is drawn by the passage of liquid through an injector 9, a gas outlet 12 from the chamber, and means 5 for circulating liquid from the chamber to the jet. A separator 14 for entrained liquid may be included in the delivery line. The sampling tube may be provided with a water jacket. 105, and to prevent choking of the tube by deposits some water may be admitted to the sampling tube by an aperture 20. It may be.subsequently separated in a device 27 or passed on as make-up to the chamber 7. Several modifications of the wet-sampling tube are described. In Fig. 9 the aperture 111 for the admission of the gas is in the side of the tube and is protected from dust by an outer shield 40, while the end of the tube 32, supplying the wash water projects into it. Fig. 5 shows a form extending across the end of a rotary kiln 31. The inlet aperture 33 is at the junction of the water supply pipe 32 and the sampling duct 1 and is protected by a shield 34.
