Abstract

560,577. Asbestos-cement production. TURNERS ASBESTOS CEMENT CO., Ltd., and TURNER, L. A. Oct. 17, 1942, No. 14574. [Class 96] The apparatus described is as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of Specification 554,132, but the claims are concerned with the vibration of the flexible bar 20 and the trough 15 and chute 16 down which the thick asbestos-cement or like slurry flows to the vibrated roller 29 and the vibrated travelling conveyer-web 1. The vibrations may be at 2000 to 10,000 reciprocations per minute and may be produced as illustrated by units 22 &c. suspended with shock absorbers 24 &c. and with turn-buckle adjustments 57 &c., as by using out-of-balance armatures, or by pneumatic or mechanical means, or the-parts may be positively reciprocated. The slurry is thus continuously vibrated after leaving the tilting feed-trough 8 and is regulated by the vibrated bar 20 &c. and roller 29, the bar 20 having the coarse general adjustment 57 and fine local adjustment 59.
