Abstract

560,142. Leather finishes. KENILWORTH MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and SHAFFER, G. June 16, 1942, No. 8253/40. [Class 95] A leather finish comprises an aqueous dispersion of depolymerised lac, and a dye or pigment. The depolymerised lac may be dispersed in the water by means of solubilising or emulsifying agents, e.g. borax, ammonia, ammonium carbonate, triethanolamine and morpholine, and other film-forming ingredients may be added, e.g. shellac, gum tragacanth, gum arabic, casein, methyl cellulose, and watersoluble synthetic resins. Waxes, such as montan wax and carnauba wax, may be added. Other specified optional ingredients are Turkey red oil, soap, sulphonated fatty alcohols, nigrosine, titanium oxide, ochres, umbers, lithopone, chromes, kaolin, carbon black, oil of mirbane, and citronella oil.
