Abstract

559,626. Moulding pavement gutters &c. DORAN, E. EMERSON-. Aug. 25, 1942, No. 11938. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A pavement gutter or the like for conducting water across a pavement &c. is moulded of concrete or the like and has on its upper surface an uninterrupted slot 12 which leads to a circular, elliptical or other conduit 11 and is adapted to admit a cleaning instrument thereto ; the slot 12 may be tapered upwardly. The sides of the gutter may have flanges 10 adapted to be engaged by pavement &c. blocks. The gutter may be formed of one block or of a number of aligned blocks, and the flanges 10 may be cut away at the outer end of the block or of the outer block, for engagement by kerbstones &c. Metal reinforcement may be provided below the conduit 11 and may comprise two longitudinal steel rods and a number of transverse rods. The gutter &c. may be cast upside down in a mould and vibrated ; the mould may comprise a bottom board provided with a slot supporting a metal core for forming the slot 12, the metal core supporting a pipe forming a core for the conduit 11, and the cores engaging keyhole slots in the ends of the mould. The Provisional Specification states also that the core for forming the slot and conduit may comprise a springy tube with two outward flanges which are inserted in a slot in the base of the mould.
