Abstract

557,068. Tank vehicles. PEST CONTROL, Ltd., REEVE, L. T., and GLADSTONE, M. N. March 30, 1942, No. 4208. [Class 108 (i)] [Also in Group XXIX] A vehicle for spraying land and crops comprises the usual tank or container 3 mounted on a wheeled chassis 1 and is provided with spray bars 4, 4<SP>1</SP> pivoted to the vehicle sc that they may be swung horizontally alongside the tank and also swung upwardly in both the out. stretched position and the folded positions alongside the tank. The bars 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are carried by vertical hinges 6, 6<SP>1</SP> whereby they may be folded back horizontally by means of power cylinders and cranks. The hinges 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are mounted to frames 11, 11<SP>1</SP> pivoted about longitudinal horizontal hinges 12, 12<SP>1</SP> whereby the bars 4, 4<SP>1</SP> in outstretched position may be swung upwardly by means of power cylinders 16, 16<SP>1</SP> and toggle levers 13, 14 and 13<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>1</SP>. The hinges 12, 12<SP>1</SP> are carried by a transverse hinge 22<SP>1</SP> upon which is hinged a central structure 24<SP>1</SP> which may be rotated to swing upwardly the bars when in the folded position by means of power cylinder 21 and toggles 17, 18, 19. The hinge 22<SP>1</SP> may be adjusted by screws 26<SP>1</SP> to adjust the height of the bars 4, 4<SP>1</SP>. Specifications 544,686 and 545,968, [Group I], are referred to.
