Abstract
556,983. Cooling cylinders. HOLDEN, R. C. July 4, 1942, No. 9294. [Class 7 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] Aero engines are cooled and propellers simultaneously de-iced by causing the hot oil from the sump to pass into a cooling system C in the hollow propeller blades and then return to the sump through the oil galleries of the engine. The oil proceeds through the central shaft A being drawn outwards to the propeller blades B by centrifugal force. A suction pump draws the oil back through the cooling system C and passage D.
