Abstract
523,108. De-icing aircraft. SALMOND, G. B. Dec. 23, 1938, No. 37420. [Class 4] For removing ice from aircraft surfaces, the surfaces are vibrated by cams on a rotating 'shaft or by pushers actuated by the cams. As applied to the leading edge of a wing, a flexible strip 1 is vibrated by pushers 5 moved sequentially by cams 4 on a shaft 3. The pushers may be returned by springs 6 and may be interconnected by rods or strips to distribute the effect. The shaft 3 may be driven from a separate motor or it may be clutched to a drive from the aero engine.
