Abstract

553,814. Dops. ASQUITH, Ltd., W., BURNESS, T. P. N., and JOHNSON, A. Feb. 21, 1942, Nos. 2319 and 8407. [Class 60] A dop is formed with a recess for the diamond and with a plunger against which the diamond rests and which can be fixed by means of a clamping screw, the dop being provided with a spigot by which it can be mounted in a dop holder or, as shown, in a press for fixing the diamond in the dop. The dop A, having the recess a and plunger a<SP>1</SP>, has its spigot a3 in a bore b in the base B of the press ; the bore is fitted with a spring-influenced plunger g engaging the plunger a<SP>1</SP>. Pivoted to the base B is a part C having a spigot c<SP>2</SP> engaging a bore in the base and a central plunger H fitted with a central peg h<SP>3</SP> which engages the diamond K and with a sliding sleeve J which surrounds it. The plunger H is movable by a screwed plug D and the pivoted part of the press is held in position by screws f<SP>1</SP>. After the diamond has been correctly positioned it is secured by cement &c.
