553,500. Dried soups. ATOMISED FOOD PRODUCTS, Ltd., and SCHMIDT, H. Sept. 16, 1941, No. 11821. [Class 49] Dried soups are prepared by mixing materials rich in starch, such as peas, beans, barley, wheat or rice, in cold or warm water, cooking until the starch gelatinises, adding before, during or after cooking other ingredients of nutritive value and for flavouring and seasoning, such as meat, fish, fruit or pastes thereof, fresh or dried vegetables, meat or fish bones, fats, soya flour, ground nut or other protein-containing substances, vitamins, herbs or spices or mixtures of these, pulping the cooked mixture if necessary and converting the smooth liquid obtained into powder by spray drying. The mixture may be strained before or after pulping and the separated solids crushed and returned to the mixture. Flour and thermolabile herbs and spices may be added prior to spraydrying or blended with the dried powder. Specifications 416,149 and 518,237 are referred to.
