Abstract

552,177. Glass manufacture. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., ANDERSON, J. T., WARD, H. F., and STANWORTH, J. E. Nov. 12, 1941, No. 14556. [Class 56] [Also in Group XL] In electric discharge lamps having a fluorescent coating on the inner surface of the envelope a film of silica is placed on this surface after it has been cleaned and dried. The film is obtained from a dilute solution of a silicon ester compound in methylated spirits by passing moist air or ammonia over the solution or by adding water. The fluorescent material is applied to the film with a binder. Specifications 453,507, [Group XX], 523,849, [Group XL], and 548,978, are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 458,635, [Group XX].
