Abstract

552,105. Structural tubular assemblies. GASCOIGNE, G. H., KNOX, J. R., and KINGSTON, J. A. March 27, 1942, No. 4131. [Class 20 (ii)] The members of a set of connecting devices for tubular structural members differ from one another but have in common at least one semicircular member or half-sleeve having along both its straight edges longitudinally extending tubular hinging lugs A alternating with spaces B of substantially the length of the lugs, the lugs and spaces being so arranged that the half sleeve of each device is adapted to interfit with the half sleeve of every other device in the set to form a complete set. Two of such devices may be secured back to back or a half sleeve device may be provided with a single socket or with two sockets disposed at an angle to receive the ends of tubular members, and the half sleeves as well as the socket members may each be provided with an aperture D to receive a hollow-ended grub-screw to clamp the tubular member therein. The members of the set may be combined in various ways and Fig. 7 shows the combination of single half-sleeve, a doublehalf-sleeve and a half-sleeve with two socket members disposed at an angle to each other.
