Abstract

550,414. Splitting crepe rubber soles &c. JACKSON, W. H., and CLARK, W. G. April 4, 1941, No. 4497. [Classes 145 (i) and 145 (ii)] Crepe rubber soles 1 for boots and other crepe rubber sheets are sliced and split by mounting the sheet on a slide 14 and presenting the edge to a thin rotary cutter 6 having a toothed periphery, the cutting taking place in the absence of a lubricant. The teeth are formed by circular arcs the centres a, Fig. 5, of which are on a circle b. One face of the blade is bevelled, the inclination of the bevel being steeper at the centres of the arcs than at the points of the teeth.
