Abstract
549,286. Roof ventilators. STURROCK (SOUTH AFRICA), Ltd., and GEMMELL, A. Feb. 20, 1942, No. 2302. [Class 137] Apertures such as 5, 6 adjacent the ridge of a roof 2 are covered by a supplementary roof 7 having end closures 9, and so spaced from the main roof that air from the apertures 5, 6 can pass freely through the space between the roofs and out through a chimney 10. The chimney aperture is spaced from the apertures 5, 6 so that entering rain is caught by the unapertured portion of the main roof and flows down the corrugations 12 which are unobstructed by the supplementary roof. A sheet of wire netting 14 collects hail, and prevents it from blocking the water outlets 12. Flanges 16 along the sides of the apertures 5, 6 nearest the chimney and the lower edge of the roof 7 prevent rain from splashing into-the apertures. The chimney may be divided by a vertical baffle 15.
