Abstract
548,772. Control of D.C. motors. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. July 17, 1941, No. 9039. Convention date, July 20, 1940. [Class 38 (iii)] A lift motor 13 is supplied from a Ward- Leonard generator 16 excited from a regulator machine R which has four fields, viz., a pattern field RPF excited under control of a car switch or of levelling switches; a differential field RDF across the generator armature to cause the generator voltage to equal that desired by the field RPF; an additive field RSF in the generator-motor loop to compensate for resistance drop with load, and a self-excited field RCF to maintain the regulator voltage at the value given by the other fields. During floor to floor runs the field RSF is partly diverted by closure of switch Kl, but during levelling this switch is open so causing greater than normal acceleration. During deceleration from high speed a resistance r4 in series with the pattern field RDF is shorted by switches Tl. Ql until a certain low speed is attained, thus giving a greater rate of deceleration. A brake is released by energization of coil 18a whenever the generator is energized. Specications 497,246 and 526,974 are referred to.
