Abstract
548,661. Rest or motion indicator. ELECTRIC RESISTANCE FURNACE CO., Ltd., MARSH, J. H., and SCOTT, C. A. March 13, 1941, No. 3417. [Class 106 (iii)] The shaft 2 of which rotation or rest is to be indicated carries an insulating drum 3 rigid therewith and provided with a contact or set of contacts 4 adapted to co-operate with a fixed contact or contacts 5 to control the circuit to a visual device, for instance a neon lamp. The contact 4 is mounted on a drum 3 of insulating material carried by the shaft 2. Brush holders 6 for the brushes 5 are carried on an arm 7 secured to the base plate 8 of a terminal box 9 on the wall of the casing 1. The brush holders are connected to insulated terminals 12, 13 by conductors 11. The terminals are connected to a Neon lamp circuit. When the shaft is rotating, the lamp flickers, but when the shaft is at rest, the lamp is either out or, when the brushes are bridged by the contact 4 remains steadily lighted. Alternatively, the contacts may effect the alternative charge of a condenser and its discharge through the Neon lamp circuit.
