Abstract

820,116. Cam-operated switches. CHICAGO TELEPHONE SUPPLY CORPORATION. Dec. 9, 1955, No. 35483/55. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVI] In a combined rotary variable resistor and switch comprising a cylindrical housing with an operating shaft projecting axially from one end face thereof, the switch assembly is arranged within the casing in front of the resistor assembly, i.e. nearer to the face from which the shaft projects and comprises an arcuate metal strip 38 fixed at one end 38a to the front wall 11 of the assembly and having its other end overlying a fixed contact 37 attached to the front wall 11, the movable contact 38 being actuated by a projection 39 from a disc 27 mounted on the shaft 7. Rotation of the shaft 7 thus causes the projection 39 to engage the strip 38 over part of its travel so depressing it into engagement with the fixed contact 37. Terminals 41 of the switch project through the front wall of the assembly.
