548,541. Wheel axles. SMITH, A. E., and BLACKSTONE & CO., Ltd. April 10, 1941; No. 4803: [Class 108 (ii)] The stub axle a has a permanent head d securing the wheel hub b in place and is detachably secured to the vehicle frame or axle so that it can be readily fitted and removed with the wheel. The head d preferably fits into a recess in the wheel hub as shown. In the construction shown the'stub axle is secured to a frame angle member g by a U-bolt e and a bolt f, the latter passing through a hole near the inner end of the stub axle. A loose collar c may be provided on the stub axle between the hub and the member g.
