Abstract

548,262. Anti-corrosive coating compositions, DENINGTON, R. F., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 31, 1941, No. 4286. [Class 95] Ferrous metal surfaces are protected against rusting or corrosion by the application of a composition comprising a #-diketone. Specified #-diketones are undecylenyl acetone, oenanthyl actetone, caproyl acetone, capryl acetone, caprylyl acetone, oleyl acetone, pelargonyl acetone, phenylacetyl acetone and undecylenyl acetophenone. Examples are given of the application of undecylenyl acetone in:- (1) toluol ; (2) thick gear oil; (3) lanoline and a petroleum distillate ; (4) lanoline and white spirit, and of a composition comprising chlorinated rubber, oleyl acetone, heavy naphtha, toluol and benzol.
