[Class 38 (v)] In a ceiling or pulloperated switch in which successive pulls on the chain move the switch alternately on and off, the contact-carrying rocker 1 has a cam surface 4 which, during the switch opening movement separates the " fixed " contact g from the moving contact f maintaining a small gap during the first part of the movement, the A.C. current being broken during this period when it passes its zero.
