Abstract
547,978. Valves. KLEEN, N. E. AF. March 12, 1941, No. 3384. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1940. [Class 135] [Also in Groups XIII and XXXVII] Reversal from heating to cooling of the generatorabsorber vessels 10, 10a, Fig. 1, of dual absorption refrigerating systems working out of phase is effected by a single bellows member 22 in a chamber connected to sensitive elements 21, 21a located in or near the generatorabsorber vessels, the bellows member acting through a thrust rod 25 to rock a pivoted arm 26, having a snap-action spring 34, and thereby control a double switch 40, 41, 41a in the heating circuit and a double valve 37 in a circuit for the cooling medium. The cooling-medium is preferably an evaporating-condensing medium in a closed circuit including vessels, 16, 16a within the generatorabsorber vessels, condenser elements 18 and a reservoir 19 above the valve chamber 20. The thrust rod 25 is held by a spring 27 in a position to engage surfaces 30, 31 on the rocker arm 26. In one modification, Fig. 3, the actuating bellows 48 communicates with a chamber 45 in the cooling medium circuit and containing the rocker 26, a second rocking block 33a, and the valve rod 53. The switch is actuated by a rod 55 attached to the bellows 48 and passing out through a bellows packing 56. In another form, Fig. 4, the bellows 48 rocks a disc 66 with a snap-action spring 70, and the disc is connected with the valve, lever 74 through a pin and slot connection. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a construction Fig. 7 (Cancelled) (not shown) in which the actuating bellows carries a cylinder protruded to form a stop to hold the rocker in a neutral position until the pressure around the bellows is reduced after its actuation, when the movement of the rocker is completed by a spring. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
