[Classes 20 (iii) and 137] A ventilating device applicable to windows, roof-lights, and shields or visors for tanks comprises a plate which is supported at each of two opposite sides by a fixed support or supports within an opening by a moving support or supports including at least one universal joint, so that the plate may be adjusted and orientated relatively to the opening to present an opening to the interior of the desired size, and facing in the desired direction. As applied to the rooflight of a vehicle, the roof-light 1 has a central opening 2, and has secured to opposite edges brackets 3 the jaws of which are caused to close on the glass by screws 4, two links 5, 6 being pivoted on each side of the bracket and to links 8, 9 the ends of which are of bulbous shape, and form the socket of a ball and socket joint. Each ball 12 is integral with a shank 14 which passes through the plate 13 and is secured by a nut 15. A rubber sealing member 18 is secured to the edges of the plate 13. By extending one, or the other, or both sets of levers, and by swivelling the ventilator on the ball joints, it can be opened, and tilted in any desired direction. In Figs. 6 and 8 the ventilator or window 46 is supported by levers 32, 35 and diametrically opposed brackets 33 fixed to the wall. Each lever 35 comprises a tubular socket 36 fixed to a part 37 pivoted on a pin 38 secured to the lever 32. A spring 39 presses a plate 39A against a ball member 40 formed with three flats, and having a stem 41 fixed to a bracket 43 secured to the ventilator 46. As shown in Fig. 6, by relative movement of the levers 32, 35 and oscillation of the ball members 40 so that one or other of the flats is turned to make contact with a plate 39A, the ventilator may be moved to the desired position.
