Abstract

547,774. Electric cables. BRITISH INSULATED, CABLES, Ltd., and QUAYLE, J. C. June 26,1941, No. 8055. [Class 36] In an electric communication cable having one or two conductors enclosed by a tube, which may be a metal outer conductor or screen, and spaced from the tube by insulating bodies, said bodies are formed by sintering a mixture consisting wholly or mainly of magnesium oxide and titanium dioxide and are of skeleton form. In Fig. 2, an inner conductor 1 is spaced from the tube 2 by spacers 3 comprising a circular portion 4 preferably received in a circumferential groove in the tube 2 and connected by radial arms 7 to curved portions 5 which grip the inner conductor. In Fig. 3, two inner conductors 11 are spaced from the tube 2 and from each other by spacers 12 formed in three lobes, the inner arms of which have curved shoulders 18 seating the conductors 11. The Provisional Specification states also that a spacer may comprise inner and outer rings and one or more connecting members.
