Abstract

547,586. Clamps. PRESSED STEEL CO., Ltd., and TRIBE, T. F. June 26, 1941, No. 8021. [Class 44] Plates are located and held in position during riveting, spot welding &c. by a spring 13 the end 17 of which is bent to pass axially through the coils and from a straight finger 18. notched at 24 to form a shoulder 25, and the end 15 being bent and shaped into a wedge shaped finger 16; the two fingers having abutting flats 2, 3. The bottom coil of the spring is secured in the holder 11 having a rolled over edge 14 and lugs 31 for finger grips or 'for the reception of pliers. In operation the spring is compressed so that the finger 18 is first inserted to bring the shoulder 25 below the work after which the spring effects clamping by the wedge finger 16.
