Abstract

547,339. Film evaporators. MORRIS, H. N. Feb. 28, 1941, No. 2752. [Class 32] An aqueous solution, colloidal precipitate or slurry in a bath 4, Fig. 1, is applied by a roller 2 to a travelling band 1 which in passing through drying chambers 5, 6 is sprayed with jets of superheated steam from nozzles 7a. The temperature of the steam may be maintained by electric heaters 9. The dried material is removed from the band by brushes 11 in a chamber 10. In a modification, the solution trickles over inclined trays 17, Fig. 3 and is dried by superheated steam from nozzles 20 above the trays. The concentrated solution collects in a trough 19.
