Abstract
546,008. Washers: spiked plates. DYBALL. E. G. April 10, 1941, No. 4795. [Classes 89 (i) and 89 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A washer w, Fig. 1, for use in bolting a wooden member to a metal one has triangular teeth k all one one side bent up from the edges of triangular projections n separated by notches m. The washer is made from a blank having substantially triangular teeth with shorter radial edges c, Fig. 2, and longer edges constituted by sides d, e meeting at an obtuse angle. The blank may be stamped out and the teeth bent up about the dotted lines f all in one operation during which the flange p is also formed, or the blanking and bending may be separate steps. In use the washer is placed on the side of the wooden member that is to contact the metal one, concentric with the bolt hole, and the teeth are hammered in till the washer is substantially flush with the member in which position it is secured by nails through the holes t.
