Abstract

1,232,593. Spiked plates. HARVEY & CO. Ltd. 15 May, 1968 [15 May, 1967], No. 1555/71. Divided out of 1,232,592. Heading F2H. An connector plate 1 for use in a beam construction comprises two end portions 1b flanking a central web portion 1a which may have stiffening ribs 2, each end portion only having spikes 3, 4 projecting over both surfaces thereof for engaging timber elements 6 which form the booms of the beam. The spikes are in the form of long nail-like projections 3 for maintaining surface contact between the plate and the timber, and short shear resisting triangular projections 4 arranged in groups, and oriented in different directions in each group by being punched up around the periphery of a hole.
