Abstract
545,751. Friction clutches. BORG & BECK CO., Ltd., and GODFREY, L. P. May 16, 1941, No. 6363. [Class 80 (ii)] In a plate friction clutch having releasing levers 20 which are pivoted at 22 to a member 23 fixed to a cover 11 and in which a thrust transmitting member 30 engages the levers..20 and an overhanging lug 33 on the pressure plate 10 for declutching, the levers 20 engage a second thrust transmitting element 38 to force the pressure plate more firmly into the clutch engaging position. The clutch is of the kind in which springs urge the pressure plate towards the engaged position. As shown, each lever 20 has a weight 35 secured thereto so that when the clutch is engaged, the centrifugal force of the weight acts on the lever and thrust transmitting element 38 to increase the clutching force. The member 38 is formed as a screw and is adjustable on the pressure plate 10. The thrust member 30 is a plate of T-shape. The pivot 22 of each lever 20 is carried by a member 23 supported by a screwed adjusting member 26 carried by the cover 11. Anti-rattling springs 42 are fitted. Specification 456,925 is referred to.
